Autumn Fashion Staples | #TeenBlogSeries Week 6

Teen Bloggers Anouska Millar and Beth have decided to start a project called #TeenBlogSeries. Its aim is to bring together lots of the teens/young adults in the blogging community. For the next ten consecutive weeks, over 80 bloggers will be writing every Monday at 6:30pm about many different things, all beauty, lifestyle or fashion related. You can view everyones posts by going to the hashtag on twitter "TeenBlogSeries". If you would like to supply products for the giveaway, get involved, or have any questions, please email: anouskateenblogger@googlemail.com.

We are now on the sixth week of #TeenBlogSeries and this week we are talking about one of my favourite topics, Autumn Fashio Staples. Autumn is my favourite time of year, I get excited for boots and jumpers, cold weather and hot chocolates and these past few weeks have been what I consider perfect Autumn weather, as it has been cold but not rainy meaning that I can dress up all cosy and warm without having to worry about the rain ruining my look!

Here are is one of my favourite autumn looks this year featuring my autumn staples.

Autumn Outfit 1

Jumper / Skirt / Boots / Bag / Socks

Mustards and Browns- My favourite colours for this year are mustards and browns, I think this colour combination perfectly encapsulates autumn fashion

Skirts and Jumpers - Skirts are one of my favourite items of clothing and you can wear them all year round by simply pairing with a warm jumper and some tights. I actually saw this look on a mannequin in Marks and Spencer's and instantly fell in love with it, so in love I ended up buying the skirt and I will definitely be going back for the jumper shortly.

Chelsea Boots - Definitely my autumn essential, Chelsea boots are a timeless classic. During the autumn months I basically live in my boots, I love them so much that I am now on the look out for a black pair. My favourite thing about these boots is that you can pair them with anything, from a skirt and tights to a cuffed pair of jeans, they complete any autumn outfit.

Knitted Socks - Knee high or ankle, cable knit socks are perfect for keeping your feet warm during the colder months. I like to wear mine over a pair of black tights and scrunching them down so they just peek out over my boots. If you are more adventurous, knee high socks are so cute with a skirt and boots, I definitley want to try this look out this autumn.

Satchels - I absolutely love satchels, they are just so cute, everytime I go into Accessorize I spend about 10 minutes gawking over them. Satchels are also really practical, you can get them in plenty of different sizes whether it's a small one for a trip into town or a larger one for school, they are perfect for any occasion.

What's your autumn staples, leave a comment below letting me know!

My Skincare Routine | #TeenBlogSeries Week 5

Teen Bloggers Anouska Millar and Beth have decided to start a project called #TeenBlogSeries. Its aim is to bring together lots of the teens/young adults in the blogging community. For the next ten consecutive weeks, over 80 bloggers will be writing every Monday at 6:30pm about many different things, all beauty, lifestyle or fashion related. You can view everyones posts by going to the hashtag on twitter "TeenBlogSeries". If you would like to supply products for the giveaway, get involved, or have any questions, please email: anouskateenblogger@googlemail.com.

I can't believe it is already week 5 of #TeenBlogSeries meaning we are already half way through this project. This weeks topic is 'Teenage Skincare Routine and Essentials'. For the past few years I have suffered from horrible skin, I would always break out and my skin would be very dull, it has only been in the last few months that my skin has begun to clear up after following this routine. I have combination skin meaning that one day I can have extremely oily skin and the next day very dry and dull skin, so this routine is suited to this skin type, however all the products I use are for all skin types.

(I have been trying to upload a picture here for over 30 minutes now so I will try and include it once the post is up!)

Every morning and evening I cleanse my skin with the Olay Essentials Conditioning Milk. This is a really effective cleanser as it removes any excess oil, dirt and makeup. I simply apply generously to the skin and leave for 30 seconds before wiping off with a cotton wool pad. I have been using this product for around 6 months now and have certainly noticed a change, if I don't use this product for a few days my skin will elfin to look dull and start to break out again.

I like to follow this up with the Olay Essentials Refreshing Toner. I apply the toner to a cotton wool pad and wipe over my face to remove any last traces of dirt and makeup, this toner is really refreshing so is perfect for those early mornings to brighten the face.

Finally, I moisturise with the Garnier Moisture Match Shine Be Gone, this moisturiser is for oily to combination skin as it provides a mattifies the skin. There are 4 other products in the Moisture Match range for all skin types. I personally think this is the most important step in my skincare routine and I was so shocked to find out most people my age don't moisturise daily! This product has definitely played a part in the improvement mom my skin and I love the product so much that I have already repurchased 3 times in the past year!
Sorry for the short post this week, I have been so busy with school and as if that wasn't enough, the app I use to write my blog post has decided to crash on me 3 times meaning this is the 4th time writing this post!
Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed this post and I would love to hear your skincare routines and essential products so leave a comment below letting me know!

Healthy Food Recipe - Soup | #TeenBlogSeries 4

Teen Bloggers Anouska Millar and Beth have decided to start a project called #TeenBlogSeries. Its aim is to bring together lots of the teens/young adults in the blogging community. For the next ten consecutive weeks, over 80 bloggers will be writing every Monday at 6:30pm about many different things, all beauty, lifestyle or fashion related. It's already the 4th week of #TeenBlogSeries and I absolutely love this weeks topic, Healthy Food Recipe, so I am really looking forward to reading everyone else's posts! This is actually my first cooking post and I am so excited to share with you one of my favourite dishes.
For me, carrot and coriander soup is the epitome of an autumn dish. This soup is really healthy, absolutely delicious and super easy to make so it is perfect for those cold autumn nights. This is my mums recipe which she has been using for years and I am sure we will both be using it for years to come.
Ingredients ( 4 servings)
-5 large carrots
-1 large onion
-Half a bunch of coriander
-1 vegetable stock cube
-2tsp oil
-1 litre boiling water
-Salt and pepper to taste
First, chop the carrots, onions and coriander, make sure you finely chop the onions!
Next, heat the oil in a large pan and add the chopped onions, fry for a few minutes until the onions are translucent.
Add the chopped carrots and coriander to the pan.
Next, you can either pre make the stock by mixing a stock cube with the water and then pour it over the vegetables (or you can do what I did and get carried away with taking photos so pour the boiling water in the pan and then add a stock cube), give it a quick stir.
Add salt and pepper to taste and give it one final stir before covering and leaving it to simmer for about 30 minutes.
Remove the pan from heat and blend together, I used a hand blender but a food mixer works fine too.
If you find your soup to be too watery you can add some vegetable stock granules and leave for a few more minutes over heat until thickened.
That's it, your soup is finished! I always have buttered rolls with my soup, although it is just as great without.
I hope you liked this tutorial, make sure you leave a comment below letting me know your favourite healthy food recipes, Iwould love to try them!

For the third week of the #TeenBlogSeries the topic is favourite high street shop and picks. I have chosen New Look. Recently, I have really been loving New Look, and not just because I recieved vouchers there for my birthday, they sell a wide variety of clothes in different styles, colours and sizes so there is something for everyone. I have also noticed that you can find almost identical products in Topshop but New Look sell them for much cheaper yet still with the same great quality! Here are my New Look Picks-

I have been looking for a new bag for ages and I really love this Black Tab Lock Mini Bag. Because of the neutral colours it will go with practically everything and the tab lock effectively keeps everything inside the bag. It is the perfect size for everyday use to carry your phone, purse and other essentials and the two straps offer different carrying styles including across the body. You can get this bag for just £15.99!

I absolutley love this Bobble Stitch Jumper, it's available in 3 colours but my favourite is definitely this gorgeous mustard! It has a unique full length zip back fastening which adds a twist to this simple style. You can only find this one online, but for £19.99 it will be the perfect addition to your autumn wardrobe, I will definitely be buying it.

My boyfriend jeans have been an essential these past few weeks, the looser fit is perfect for achieving a casual look. The best thing about this style is that you can turn up the hem and pair with either a tee and converse for an easy effortless look or take a more girly approach with a blouse and heels, there are many different styles available ranging from £9 to £26.99.

One of my favourite things about New Look is that they stock a range of different brands, my favourite being Chi Chi who are famous for their super cute dresses. I love this Pink Lace Peter Pan Collar Skater Dress the combination of lace, shell pink and adorable collar makes it the perfect girly outfit for any occasion, and it's just £25!

This Pink Crochet Hem T-Shirt is currently on sale for just £5 and I couldn't resist, I have been wearing this with my boyfriend jeans which has been perfect with the current in between summer and autumn weather. I love the little crochet hem detail as it adds a cute feminine twist to the basic tee.

I love skirts, you can easily jazz it up for a formal event or casual it down for an everyday look. I think this Rose Print Skater Skirt (£14.99) is gorgeous and would look great with a red crop top and white shoes to pull out the flowers in the design.

I have fallen head over heels in love with these Tan Crochet Panel Boots, I ador the cute crochet panel which adds a feminine touch to your look. You may know that I have a boot addiction but they compliment any outfit and are an autumn and winter essential! You can get your hands on these adorable boots for just £24.99

With school season kicking off I have been relying on my watch to stay on time, this Floral Face Watch (£12.99) is cute and practical, with a faux leather strap and round floral face you will never be late again!

Summer 2014

After 11 weeks off, I am finally going back to school tomorrow which unfortunatley marks the end of summer. Because I have had such a long holiday this year I have been up to all sorts, so I decided to share with you everything I have done in a very Louise (Sprinkle of Glitter) style post (check out this post to see what I mean by that!). I have always thought of my blog as a place to share my memories, almost like an online diary so that in 5 or 10 years time I can look back at all the fun I got up to!

These pictures are only a few of the hundreds I took of my favourite days this summer. They are all in a completely random order so I will start from the top and work from left to right!

My friends, Helen and Ellie, and I are not very spontaneous, we always plan days out weeks in advance so my mum was shocked when I told her one night that we had decided to go camping the next day. We took an 1hr and a half car journey down to Mother Iveys in Cornwall the next morning where we camped, took a few trips to the beach and had a visit to Padstow. It was really nice to get away for a couple days and it was such a beautiful place.

After a failed year group water fight, my friends and I decided to have our own water fight on the day we finished school. We went to the park for a few hours and had a couple water fights, along with a very intense game of hide and seek, and some very competitive handstand contests. Definitley a great start to the summer!

A few weeks into the holiday, I went to Tenerife for a week with my mum. We spent the whole time lounging by the pool, it was a lovely get away with nothing to worry about especially after months of revision and exams.

My amazing friends bought be the beautiful vintage camera for my birthday and I am absolutley obsessed, I am so grateful to have such wonderful and thoughtful friends.

Whilst down and Mother Iveys we had a BBQ and decided to toast some marshmallows. They were delicious!

Another picture of the gorgeous beach at Mother Iveys, I often forget how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place.

Ellie and I filmed the PLL tag for her YouTube challenge. It took two attempts and a bunch of bloopers but eventually we got there, so make sure you check that out here!

I am sure you all know by now that I cut my hair, if you didn't you can read all about that here!

We headed to see The Fault in Our Stars at the cinema and this picture from Ellen's Instagram captures all the emotions from before and after! An amazing film.

Ellie, Helen and I headed up to the Hoe to watch the British Firework Championships. The fireworks were great but I did get a bit chilly, I always forget it's still cold at night even during August!

Ellie made this cake and butterfly biscuits to celebrate the end of our exams, it was delicious!

I headed to Torquay with my Dad to meet some Family, my Dad hadn't seen his cousin for over 40 years and he had never met her daughter or granddaughter so it was lovely to meet them and spend a day in Torquay.

I attended a blogger event at the Lush store in Plymouth, you can read all about that here!

Ellie and I decided to make a den in her room and watch Friends, we are big kids!

Prom! This was one of the most amazing days ever, if you want to see more photos and hear all about the night make sure you check out my blog post here.

My cousin had his wedding over in Zante, Greece, so my Dad and I went out for a week to celebrate with our family. I also had my 16th birthday over there and decided to go parasailing to mark the occasion!

I read a ton of books this summer, I also shared with you my summer reading list which you can find here. During school time I don't has much time to read my own books so it was nice to be able to get through around 15 books!

Whilst in Greece, the whole wedding party (50 people!) decided to go on a boat trip to the Shipwreck island. This is my 'I am glad I don't get sea sick' face as about 5 people threw up around me - not fun, especially as I normally come out in sympathy and join in!

Another picture from the boat trip. I couldn't believe how blue the water was, this picture has not been edited at all!

My friends and I headed down to the barbican for chips by the water, these kind of days are always my favourite.

I got my GCSE results 2 weeks ago, this is our 'holy macaroni we actually passed Spanish' faces - how did that happen!

A family photo from my trip to Torquay, it was so sunny that day.

My mum made these gorgeous wedding cakes for her friend and of course I helped her to deliver and set it up.

I was nominated to take part in the Ice Bucket Challenge, this is a great mid soaking photo. And, of course so have already donated!

This is one of my favourite photos from summer, another one from down Mother Iveys with 2 of my favourite people!

This summer has been amazing and it wouldn't have been half as good without my wonderful friends and family, so thankyou to all of you who made this summer so perfect!

Now that it is September I am in full Autumn mode which is probably my favourite season and I can not wait for boots, leaves, jumpers, Starbucks and blankets!

Leave a comment below telling me your favourite part about summer!

My Foundation and Brow Routine | #TeenBlogSeries Week 2

Teen Bloggers Anouska Millar and Beth have decided to start a project called #TeenBlogSeries. Its aim is to bring together lots of the teens/young adults in the blogging community. For the next ten consecutive weeks, over 80 bloggers will be writing every Monday at 6:30pm about many different things, all beauty, lifestyle or fashion related. You can view everyones posts by going to the hashtag on twitter "TeenBlogSeries". If you would like to supply products for the giveaway, get involved, or have any questions, please email: anouskateenblogger@googlemail.com.
Today marks the second week of the #TeenBlogSeries. I recieved lots of lovely comments on my first post (you can read that here) and hopefully you will love this post just as much. This weeks topic is 'Foundation and Brow Routine for Teens'.
My Foundation Routine
I have tried and tested many different foundations but only recently found one that I actually like. For the past few years I have suffered with spots, it wasn't quite as bad as acne but it was enough to make me feel very conscious, I was constantly trying to cover up my blemishes which actually resulted in my skin becoming much worse, so when I heard about the Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin foundation I went straight to Boots to try it out. Because it contains Actyl C this foundation actually improves your skin whilst you wear it, and I have definitely noticed a positive change in mine. I should also mention that I have combination skin, I have a very oily t-zone and cheeks but the rest of my skin can be quite dry on some days or extremely oily on others, so this routine is very effective for different skin types.
My current routine starts with the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser primer. I love this primer and it is a great dupe to the Benefit Porefessional, I apply this over my cheeks, t-zone and chin, to minimise the appearance of pores. Using a flat concealer brush, I cover any blemishes with Maybelline Better Skin concealer, this provides great coverage and as it also contains Actyl C it improves and reduces the appearance of spots and blemishes. For under eyes I use the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer, this contains light reflecting particles which illuminates under the eyes disguising those late nights! I like to buff this in using the buffing concealer brush from the Eco Tools flawless face set.
I then take the pink Models Own blending sponge (the orange one is too firm), wet it under the tap and then towel dry it so it remains damp, this sponge is a dupe for the beauty blender and works amazingly. By making the sponge damp it reduces the amount of foundation absorbed by the sponge ensuring you make the most of your foundation. I pump the Better Skin Foundation onto the back of my hand and using the wide end of the sponge dab it into foundation and onto my face. I blend the foundation using the wide end of the sponge and dabbing from the centre of my face outwards, the pointed tip is great for under the eyes and around the nose. This sponge leaves a flawless finish and helps to get the best coverage from your foundation, i definitely prefer it to a brush or fingers! To set my foundation I use the Maybelline Fit Me Powder which I pat onto my face using a large powder brush.
My Brow Routine
Eyebrows are really hard to master, I definitely still haven't mastered the perfect brow. It's way too easy to over pluck and when you finally do perfect one brow it's impossible to match the other. After many occasions with two thin lines as brows I now try to embrace my natural shape and just like to tidy up the little messy hairs. Most of the time I just use tweezers to pluck the messy, out of place hairs, however if I haven't done this for a while I like to use the Nair Facial Wax Strips*, the idea of waxing has never appealed to me and it has always sounded so painful but I decided to give it a try, because these strips are enriched with argan oil it nourishes the skin leaving it feeling soft and it's not painful at all! After watching some brow videos on YouTube I have recently started to trim my brows and I can't believe I haven't done so before, trimming really completes the look leaving your brows looking neat and tidy.
I have jet black brow hair and so I find it very difficult to fill my brows in as I always fear that black eyebrows can look tacky, because of this I try to keep a very natural appearance. Recently I have been loving the No7 Beautiful Brows Pencil. This is one of the only products I have been able to find in black and I love that it is double ended, with a pencil on one end and a brush on the other, leaving a nice groomed finish. The pencil is soft and not too pigmented prefect for creating a natural brow look.
What are your foundation and brow essentials, leave a comment below, I'd love to try out some new products!
